Arco Vara construction company: why is it important to be certified?

Arco Vara’s construction subsidiary Arco Tarc was awarded three ISO certificates, which, according to CEO Lauri Männiste. demonstrates the company’s firm commitment to the development and effective implementation of its management systems.

According to Männiste, ISO certificates should be available to all companies involved in construction work, as it shows that the company meets internationally recognised requirements and is reliable and sustainable in its operations.

“Obtaining the certifications was not an end in itself for us, but a conscious step in a longer journey of developing management systems and developing the company. Having ISO certification gives us a competitive edge and broadens our future prospects. In the construction sector, for example, holding certificates is a prerequisite for participating in public procurement or KredEx-guaranteed reconstruction contracts,” Männiste said. “As these are internationally recognised universal certificates, private customers are increasingly asking for them,” he added.

The three certifications awarded to Arco Tarc show that the company’s management systems comply with international standards in terms of quality (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001) and occupational health and safety (ISO 45001). “ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are widely used in the construction sector and ISO 45001 is also rapidly gaining popularity,” said Männiste.

“As a start-up, we needed a framework on which to build our systems. The in-depth analysis of the company’s processes carried out when applying for the certificates gave us a toolbox, but the real work is just beginning. The certificate will be valid for three years, the compliance of our day-to-day operations with the standards will be verified by an annual surveillance audit for the next two years, and in the third year we will be subject to a recertification audit,” Männiste said.

Analysing the current state of the construction market, Männiste says that the market is. there is a clear sense of calm. “In some places it feels like 2008 all over again, but this time it will last a year and a half or two years. The appetite for new homes is still there and real estate is gradually becoming more affordable again,” says Männiste. “In the next few months we will be completing the Kodulahe Rannakalda development several months ahead of schedule, and we have proved ourselves well. Several new and interesting projects are already waiting in the wings, for example, next year we are planning the extension of the Kodulahe quarter to the Soodi 6 property and the Arcojärve residential quarter,” Männiste opened up on Arco Tarc’s future plans.

Arco Tarc OÜ is a wholly owned subsidiary of Arco Vara AS, whose main task is the general contracting of the construction of Arco Vara Group developments.
